ALVINA STEINHAUS

Alvina Steinhaus, 88 a long time resident of Ramsey County, ND passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of family. Funeral Services for Alvina will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, ND. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in Crary Cemetery, rural Crary. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Sharing at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Alvina will be Alvina’s grandsons, Dennis Brien, Jeff Steinhaus, Jeremy Steinhaus, Terry Steinhaus, Ryan Steinhaus and Brad Steinhaus. Honorary Bearers for Alvina will be Heidi Bye, Sonia Knutson, Michele Morse, Jill Steinhaus, Kristi Bartz, Melissa Steinhaus, Jenny Steinhaus, Erin Rissmiller, Bob Bye, Ron Knutson, Jon Morse, Mike Bartz and Zac Rissmiller. Music will be provided by Donovan Foughty, soloist and Maren Lysne, pianist. Alvina Bartram Steinhaus was born in Oliver County, near Center, ND on April 5, 1922 to Frederick and Emma (Hagerott) Bartram. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Center and Dickinson State Teacher’s College. She taught in schools in Oliver and Ramsey County. On July 25, 1942, Alvina was united in marriage to Roy C. Steinhaus. They lived in Ramsey County their entire married life and in later years spending winter months in Arizona. Five children were born to them: Duane Roy, Sharon Royene, Curtis, Clark and Conrad. Alvina enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and her family. She was active in Crary’s First Lutheran Church Sunday School and their women’s group. Alvina is survived by her loving children, Sharon Royene Brien of Crary, ND, Curtis Steinhaus also of Crary, Clark (Lois) Steinhaus of Devils Lake and Conrad (Cheryl) Steinhaus of Hatton, ND; Twelve Grandchildren; Twelve Great Grandchildren; Two Great Great Grandchildren; sister, Elsa Wiebe of Savage, Montana; Alvina was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roy; a son, Duane Roy Steinhaus; a granddaughter, Audrey Carmen Brien; son-in-law, Edgar Brien; her parents; a sister and two brothers.
