Virgil was born of December 15, 1977 at Altru formerly United Hospital at Grand Forks, ND to Mary L. (Davis) and Virgil B. McKay. Virgil was raised in the Fort Totten area where he attended and graduated Pre-School. From there he attended school in the Devils Lake School System up until the time of a car accident in which it left Virgil a Quadriplegic at the age of 17 during his Sophmore year. Prior to his accident Virgil had been active in sports. He enjoyed Business, Marketing, and Welding while attending school.
As a Quadriplegic, he soon learned he would have to learn to do things in a different way and it had never occurred to Virgil to give up. He returned to school with the help of a tutor and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1997. Virgil was kind and generous and opened his home to many. He enjoyed playing video games especially Madden. Virgil had a gift to gab and made use of his Bluetooth. He would spend hours talking to family and friends. Virgil was a dedicated fan of Payton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts and never missed a game and if he had something else to do he would record the game and tell his mother not to tell him who won. Virgil enjoyed cruising around in his pride and joy a 1994 Firebird. He also had a passion for home and car audio systems.
