Roy Vincent was born on April 5, 1926 at Mapes, ND the son of William and Violet (Johnson) Wimer. He was raised on the family farm south of Lakota and educated at the Dodds Township School. He worked on the family farm with his father for several years. Roy was united in marriage to Vivian Thiessen on June 7, 1948 at the Lakota Lutheran Church. They made their home in several places after their marriage and Roy worked at several different jobs including employment at a Lumber Yard in Tolna, mechanic at Solberg’s Garage at Lakota and a farm laborer in the Crary area. The family returned to Lakota and Roy began working for Hulstrand Construction as a mechanic and worked there for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. In 1998 he and Vivian moved to Lawton where they have since made their home. Roy had many hobbies, but his passion was fishing-all weather fishing-winter, spring, summer, fall. He also enjoyed gardening and “tinkering” with lawn mowers. However when the fishing was done, Roy especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and telling them about the one that got away. We will forever miss that twinkle in Roy’s eye and that big smile. We will remember you always. Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian; children, Kathleene Anderson of Lakota, Gordon Wimer and his wife, Debby of Bison, Kansas, Roberta and her husband, James Klindt of Brocket, ND, Michelle and her husband, Doug Brotten also of Brocket, Jeff Wimer of Lawton and Timothy Wimer and his wife, Tammy of Holman, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren TJ Wimer and Crystal Brotten; sisters, Marlene Venekamp, Esther Olson and Murial Wimer; brothers, Elmer Wimer and Clarence Wimer and his wife, Leona.
