Jeanette F. Stinkeoway, 66 of Starkweather, ND died on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Trinity Medical Center, Minot, ND. Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption of Mary Catholic Church, Starkweather, ND. Fr. Mathew Pamplaniyil and Fr. Anthony Hession will concelebrate the Mass and burial will be in the spring in the Assumption of Mary Catholic Cemetery, rural Starkweather. Visitation will be held at the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Jeanette will be John Warinsky, Glen Weber, Brian Johnson, David Stinkeoway, Dennis Dockter, Mike Connor and Gil Smith. Reading the Scriptures will be Bethany Plemel. Gift Bearers will be James Young, Jerome Young and Donald Young Music will be provided by Maureen Bertsch, vocalist and Candy Haus, pianist. Jeanette Faye was born on June 5, 1944 in Harvey,ND to Sebastian and Eva (Schuh)Young. She graduated from Harvey High School with the class of 1962. After high school, Jeanette worked at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake as a nurses’ aide. She then attended hair styling school in Minot. She returned to Devils Lake and worked for a time as a hair dresser at May’s Beauty Shop. On June 11, 1970 Jeanette was united in marriage to Orville Stinkeoway at Selz, ND. They established their home in Park River and Jeanette again worked as a hairdresser. They moved to Hampden where they lived for 9 years and then in 1983, moved to Starkweather where Jeanette was employed as a cook at the Starkweather High School for 21 years. Since 1983, Jeanette has also been delivering the Grand Forks Herald to the Starkweather Community. Jeanette was a member of the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church in Starkweather where she taught CCD for 14 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, friends and family and of course all her “other kids” from the school. She enjoyed gardening, planting flower beds, canning, baking, and taking walks in the summer months and stopping in to visit with her neighbors. Loving wife, devoted mother, mom to so many and dear neighbor and friend will shall miss you and keep you in our hearts forever. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Orville; three children, Doug Stinkeoway and his wife Rachel of Starkweather, Lisa and her husband Peter Bjornstad of Cando and John Stinkeoway and his wife Kendra also of Starkweather; grandchildren Jocelyn Stinkeoway and Adrianna Bjornstad; brothers, James, Jerome and Donald Young all of Selz, ND; sister, Joann (Bill) Spaunhorst of Abilene, Texas; step-father-in-law Robert Stotts of Devils Lake; sisters-in-law Lois (Frank) Zacher, Williston, ND, Debbie Johnson and Marilyn (John) Warinsky; brother-in-law Jerry (Sonia) Stinkeoway of Centralia, Washington; aunts, Helen Horn from Houston, Texas and Esther Schuh of Fargo, ND; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law Doris Stinkeoway-Stotts.
