Edna M. Kenner, 81 a lifelong resident of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of her family and Mercy Hospice. Funeral Services for Edna will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jeff Nicla will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Edna Mae was born on May 11, 1929, the daughter of Edward James and Selma Matilda (Pederson) Blanchfield in Devils Lake, ND. She was educated in Devils Lake and was a Central High School graduate. Edna made the Devils Lake area her home her entire life. Edna was united in marriage to Lloyd G. Kenner on June 15, 1949 at Devils Lake. They established their home on the Kenner farm where they lived, farmed and raised their children through the years. For nearly 50 years, Edna farmed successfully with her husband, Lloyd. Lloyd passed away on August 14, 1997. Edna was an active member of the Harbor Hustlers Homemakers group and later the Grand Harbor Homemakers. She held several offices in the club and enjoyed giving lessons. Edna was also an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and WELCA. Edna enjoyed sewing for her six children and helped children in need by sewing clothing which was distributed through the church. She loved to travel with family and friends, spending time in her yard and garden and completing a wide variety of home improvements. Always keeping at least one project in the workings. Edna is survived by her loving children: Gerald Kenner and his wife Brenda of Grand Forks, ND, Shirley Kenner and her husband, Melvin Medler of Glendale, AZ, Pamela and her husband Tom Mikelson of Thompson, ND, Steven Kenner and his wife Lani of Waterville, WA, Roy Kenner and his wife Pam of Devils Lake and Karen and her husband Charles Leonard also of Devils Lake; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd and her brothers George, Warren and Robert Blanchfield.
