Hollis S. Brown, 90 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Hollis will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Rafe Allison, Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Hollis’ dear nephews and nieces.
Music will be provided by Russell and Lynda Pearson.
Hollis St. Claire Brown was born on November 14, 1920 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Ira and Pearl (Wilson) Brown. He was reared and educated in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake Central High School and Lake Region State College.
Hollis worked as a Public Servant for the United States Government, serving in Korea, on the West Coast and also Fort Totten when it was a US government facility. He also did accounting for multiple small businesses throughout the years. He retired in 1966 after many years working as the bookkeeper for Kurtz Salvage, Grain and Feed. After retiring, Hollis traveled constantly all over the world.
Hollis is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Duane Brown of Springfield, Tennessee, Doug Brown of Savannah, Tennessee, Gary Brown of Houston, Texas, Charlotte Halle of Bemidji, Minnesota, Terry Brown of Grand Forks, Gene Brown also Grand Forks and Annette Nelson of Boaz, Alabama; constant loving canine companion “Buddy”.
Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert Brown of Enterprise, Kansas and Melvin Brown of Bemidji, Minnesota and sister, Naomi Koch of Spring Valley, Minnesota.
