Alvina M. Lang, 96 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial for Alvina will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Alvina will be Bryan Lang, Richard J. Wee, Joe Wee, Jason Lang, James Lang and Lee Lang. Reading the Scriptures will be James Lang. Gift Bearers will be Bryan and Roxanne Lang. Music will be provided by JoDee Lagein. Alvina Matilda DuBois, daughter of David and Rose (Smith) DuBois was born on December 7, 1914 at the General Hospital in Devils Lake, ND. She was reared and educated in Devils Lake and Bismarck graduating from high school in Bismarck. Alvina was united in marriage to Frederick William Lang Jr. on January 26, 1932 at St. Michael, ND. They established their home in the Tokio area. Alvina dedicated herself to caring for her husband and raising her 8 children. Fred passed away on November 26, 1956. As a young widow and mother, Alvina’s faith gave her the strength to continue to provide for her family. The family moved to Devils Lake and Alvina worked as a seamstress for JC Penney for many years. She was also a seamstress for her family, making many of their clothes too. In later years, she enjoyed other needlework hobbies and crafts. Alvina has been a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society for many years and a member of the Sacred Heart League. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. To Alvina’s family, she was their “Rock”. She loved them all and provided encouragement, prayers, words of support and comfort and even advice at times. She was proud of each and every one of them. We love you Mom and we will miss you dearly. Rest in peace. Alvina is survived by her children: Rose Mary Wee of Devils Lake and her special friend, Lennis Foss of Leeds, ND, Walter Lang and his wife, Bonnie, Patricia and her husband, Richard Wee all of Devils Lake and Lynda and her husband, Alton Abrahamson of Maddock, ND; daughter-in-law, Karin Lang also of Devils Lake; eighteen grandchildren, Patty Lynn Gerald, Joe (Rainie) Wee; Bryan (Roxanne) Lang, Brenda Lang, Paul (Melissa) Poitra, Shawna (Stoney) Tronsedt, Pam (Dave) Birkenbuel and Roshanna Gray and Darren Gray; Richard J. (Jolene) Wee, Renae (Randall) Schneider, Robin (Larry) Sanders, Rhonda Wee; Barbara Johnson (fiancé, Elmer Greiger); Jim (Tabitha) Lang, Jason Lang; Desiree Wright; Tim Lang; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their families. Alvina was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her children, Donald, Gerald, Frank and Richard “Butch” Lang; grandchildren, Ronald Wee, Debra Lang, Kim Wee Valles and Cheryl Ann Lang.
