LeRoy N. Ottmar, 57 of Devils Lake, ND passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Timothy Stout will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on today, Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Dean Toso, Jason Toso, Justin Toso and Clarence Toso.
LeRoy Neil Ottmar was born on January 3, 1954, in Elgin, ND, the son of Gottlieb and Esther (Voll) Ottmar. In 1957, the family moved to Devils Lake where LeRoy grew up.
LeRoy attended public schools in Devils Lake. Upon graduating from high school in 1973, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a Radarman Third Class U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and was honorably discharged September 27, 1979. LeRoy worked at various jobs in Devils Lake and most recently worked for Dakota Boys Ranch from 1998 through 2010.
LeRoy is survived by his mother Esther of Devils Lake; sisters, Sandra and her husband Rev. Donald Sauls of Berne, Indiana and Linda and her husband Clarence Toso of Devils Lake. He is also survived by nephews, Dean (Amy) Toso, Jason (Niki) Toso, Justin Toso (Cienna Kurtz), Allen Sauls, Thaddaeus (Ashley) Sauls and nieces, Candice (Troy) Bridgford and Chrystal Sauls.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Gottlieb Ottmar.
