Virginia “Jerry” G. Poepperling, 87 of rural Minnewaukan, ND formerly of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania passed away early Sunday morning, April 10, 2011 at Valley ElderCare in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Services for Virginia will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Virginia, the daughter of Jack and Minnie (Lovelace) Esser was born on January 27, 1924 at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she was reared and educated. She attended Grant Street Elementary School and graduated from Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre.
Virginia was united in marriage to George Poepperling on August 3, 1946 in Wilkes-Barre where they lived, raised their family and Virginia worked at Harris Hogan Manufacturing. Their home was destroyed by flood waters so in 1973 they moved to Dallas, Pennsylvania. In 2004, Virginia and George moved to Minnewaukan to be close to family.
Virginia first and foremost was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; son Gerard Poepperling and his wife Charlotte of Buhler, Kansas; daughter Donna and her husband Ronald Wren of Minnewaukan; six grandchildren Ronald (Kris) Wren, Redfield, South Dakota, Tracy (Angela) Wren, St. Michael, ND, James Wren, Devils Lake, Michael (McKayla) Poepperling also of Buhler, David (Kara) Poepperling, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michelle (Mike) Cosentine, Albuquerque, New Mexico; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Virginia was preceded in death by two children in infancy.
