Jonathan W. Tikanye Sr., 39 of rural Tokio, ND passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 in rural Hamar, ND. A Wake will be held at the Woodlake Recreation Center, Tokio, ND on Friday, May 6, 2011 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Woodlake Recreation Center will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from Wal-Mart. Funeral Services for Jonathan will be held at the Bdecan Presbyterian Church, rural Tokio on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Bdecan Presbyterian Cemetery. Pastor Larry Thiele will officiate. Casket Bearers for Jonathan will be Joel Redfox, Bruce Touche, Matt Georgeson, John Tollefson Sr., John Tollefson Jr., Duane Tikayne, Steven Redfox and Jay Littlewind. Honorary Bearers will be Libby Littleghost, Marva Tollefson, Sharon Charboneau, Wanda Lenoir, Ames Construction, Roberta “Beada” Littleghost, Stanley Touche, Mary, Christine and Myra Mindt, Glen Enert, David Redfox, Clint Georgeson, Wilson Whiteshield, Tyler Redfox, Robert Redfox, Jay Littlewind, Francis “Poncho” Tikanye Sr., Wesley BigTrack, Mike Tollefson, Eugene and Lynn Littleghost,Mark Littleghost, *Marilyn Littleghost, Stephanie Tikanye and family, Brenda Touche and family, Thaddeus Demarce, Loretta Dubois, Beatrice Joramo, Larry and Darla Thiele, Truett Tikayne, Eddy Greywind, Alvina Jackson and Aloysius “Fishy” McKay. The family would like to apologize for anyone we may have forgotten to mention, it was not intentional. The family welcomes any Drum Groups who would like to share their music. Jonathan Wayne was born on May 11, 1971 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Francis Tikayne Sr. and Rosemary Greywind. He attended elementary school at St. Michael, ND and high school at the Warwick Public School. He went on to the Kicking Horse Job Corps Center in Montana. Jonathan then worked for a time in the Housekeeping Department at Seven Clans Casino, Thief River Falls, Minnesota and Palace Casino in Cass Lake, MN. He returned to the Spirit Lake Nation and worked as a Shuttle Driver, in Housekeeping and as a Valet at the Spirit Lake Casino. Most recently, Jonathan was employed as a laborer with Ames Construction, working on road projects at the Spirit Lake Nation. Jonathan met Robin Tollefson while working at the Casino in 2005. They became the proud parents of Jonathan Tikanye Jr. on June 13, 2007. Jonathan died on August 27, 2007. Jonathan and Robin were united in marriage on March 19, 2009 and on November 2, 2011 they welcomed their second son, Josiah. Jonathan enjoyed playing billards, hunting, fishing and many other recreational activities. He especially loved spending time taking walks, watching movies and family time with his son Josiah and his wife. Jonathan was always willing to help others in need. He always made every one laugh with a joke or a story. Jonathan was really known for his sense of humor. Jonathan was always very reliable and a hard worker. Jonathan is survived by his wife Robin Tikanye and son Josiah Woyawaste Tikanye of Devils Lake; brothers and sisters Corrine Tikanye-Stretches, Francis “Poncho” Tikanye Sr., Duane Tikanye, Francine Tikanye, Beverly Tikanye, Yvonne Georgeson, Bernadine Tikanye, Maynard “Jumbo” Tikanye, Delphine Tikanye and Randy Tikanye; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marva and John Tollefson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jonathan was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jonathan W. TIkanye Jr.; parents Francis and Rosemary; grandparents Archie and Gertrude Redfox, Sr. and Joseph and Mary Jane Greywind; brothers and sisters Emery Tikanye, Myron Greywind, Thomas Tikanye and Cornelius Tikanye; uncles Archie Redfox Jr., Robert “Bob” Redfox, Arthur Thompson and Calvin Thompson; aunties Etta Redfox, Karen Redfox Paul, Annie Redfox, JoAnne Redfox, Miriam “CoCo” Redfox and Mary Esther Touche and many cousins.
