Marion J. Anderson, 82 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday morning, May 20, 2011 at Mercy Hospital with her family at her bedside.
Funeral Services for Marion will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, rural Edmore.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Marion will be her grandchildren, Christy, Jenny, Kathy, Diana, Erin, Lucas and Rebecca.
Marion Joyce was born on September 19, 1928 at Proctor, Minnesota the daughter of Hans and Jeanette (Anderson) Pederson. She grew up there and was educated there, graduating from Proctor High School. Marion moved to Devils Lake and worked as a CNA at Mercy Hospital. She continued her education at Lake Region Junior College and was certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse and continued her employment with Mercy Hospital. Marion’s love of nursing stirred the desire to continue on and she eventually received her license as a Registered Nurse. She again used her skills as a nurse at Mercy Hospital for a total of over 20 years employment.
Marion moved to Valley City and worked for a short time there. She moved to Simla, Colorado and was the Director of Nurses at Good Samaritan Center. After several years, Marion returned to Valley City and worked at Mercy Hospital until retiring in the late 1990’s. In 2009, Marion moved to Devils Lake to be closer to family. Marion was at one time married to Martin Anderson and they were the proud parents of Dennis, twins Donald and Darrell, twins Debra and Dean and Dawn.
Marion was a member of the Devils Lake Eagles Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.
Marion enjoyed the outdoors, tending her yard and flowers. She always tried to make each holiday special with decorations and seasonal knick-knacks she had collected along the way. She especially loved animals and her pets were very special to her and were loyal, loving companions.
Marion is survived by her children Dennis M. Anderson, Donald M. Anderson and his wife, Sheryl and Dawn Marie and her husband Todd Dauphinais all of Devils Lake; seven grandchildren Christy (Ted) Brekken and Jenny (Jeremy) Steinhaus; Kathy Girard and Diana Girard; Erin Anderson; Lucas Mertens and Rebecca Mertens; seven great grandchildren Anders and Nora Brekken, Casia and Nate Steinhaus, Savannah Girard Underdahl, Isaac Girard and Chase Finck.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents; sons Darrell M. Anderson and Dean M. Anderson; daughter Debra E. Girard and brothers Clifford and Harold Pederson.
