STEPHANIE ANN NELSON

Stephanie Ann Nelson, 27 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Red Willow Lake in Griggs County as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident. A celebration of the precious life of Stephanie will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Desai officiating. Honorary Bearers for Stephanie will be all of her many dear friends and beloved relatives. Stephanie Ann was born on October 16, 1983 at Cando, ND the daughter of Kathleen (Wiedrich) and Michael Nelson. She moved with her parents to many different places in the state including Wahpeton, Minot, Carrington, Bismarck, Nekoma and Devils Lake and also Colorado Springs, Colorado. She received her GED from the Burdick Job Corp in Minot. Most recently she was a cook at the Cedar Inn in Devils Lake. She was also a full-time Human Services online student with Rasmussen College and had planned to attend UND-Lake Region this fall. Stephanie was a free spirit who loved life, loved her family and loved her friends. She enjoyed cooking and so the Cedar Inn was a good job for her. She was introduced to all kinds of music at a very young age and she continued to have an interest in music her whole life. But Stephanie’s number one priority was her son Gavin and being a good Mom to him. Stephanie is survived by her son Gavin Zander Nelson; parents Kathleen Nelson of Devils Lake and Michael Nelson of Edmore, ND; her father Steven E. (Barb)Malo of Nevada; sisters Amanda Nelson, Samantha Nelson both of Devils Lake, Brittany (Nick) Nelson-Schutt of New Orleans, Louisiana, brothers Benjamin Nelson of Langdon and Daniel Nelson of Devils Lake; niece Sarah Nelson also of Langdon; grandmother Darlene Wiedrich of Cathay, ND; aunts and uncles Robert and Cathy Wiedrich, Deb and Wayne Thorstad and Barb Scott all of Cathay, Teri Thomas of Bismarck and Roger and Diane Nelson of Jamestown; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins also survive. Stephanie was preceded in death by her daughter Allani Nelson; grandparents Alf and Ruth Nelson, Doug Wiedrich and Eugene Malo; aunt and uncle Gloria (Nelson) and Hank Schaack and cousin Erick P. McKay Jr. Memorials may be directed to the Gavin Z. Nelson Fund which has been established at Western State Bank, Devils Lake.
