Ann M. Skadsem, 63 of Doyon, ND passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Services for Ann will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald.
Ann Marie was born on June 3, 1948 at McVille, ND the daughter of John W. and Evelyn (Fitcha) Kuk Sr. She grew up and was educated in the Tolna/Warwick area, graduating from Warwick High School with the class of 1966.
Ann “Amy” was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Roger Skadsem on February 6, 1968 at the Tokio Lutheran Church. They made their home in St. Michael until moving to Doyon, ND seven years ago due to the flooding.
In the early years Amy was Dad’s right hand man-helping run the farm. She also worked at various jobs until she found her dream job of 15 years as the Poker Room Manager at the Spirit Lake Casino. Her poker players become her second family.
Amy especially enjoyed spending time with her family and the trips with her sisters to Elko, Nevada, North Dakota Casinos and the Detroit Lake Flea Markets.
Amy will be dearly missed by her family, friends and poker players.
Amy is survived by her loving husband Roger; sons Roger A. Skadsem of Oberon, ND, Rodney (Heather) Skadsem of Warwick; daughter Tami Skadsem also of Doyon; the light of her life and grandson she and Roger raised Jordan Skadsem and grandchildren Devin Littlewind, Whitney Ann Marie Littlewind, Samantha Joramo, Rodney Skadsem and Keyaira Skadsem; sisters Judy (Gary) Geske, St. Michael, Nancy (Larry) Dauphinais, Rugby, Gloria (Kevin) Kushel, Devils Lake and Beverly Folmer, Yuba City, California; brothers John W. (Sarah) Kuk Jr., Devils Lake and Les (Tammy) Kuk, St. Michael; special cousin and friend Carole Lysne, Minnewaukan; a great aunt, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law Reuben and Delores Skadsem and nephews Christopher Carpenter.
