Christopher M. Thompson, 40 of Fargo formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away in his home on Monday, July 11, 2011.
Funeral Services for Chris will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake. Rev. David Birkeland will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Casket Bearers for Chris will be Jeremy Olson, Jason Olson, Justin Eback, Ryan Regan, Jason Schall and Darren Anderson. Music will be provided by Susan Eback and JoDee Lagein.
Christopher Michael, son of Bryan and Cynthia (Eback) Thompson was born on June 11, 1971 at Devils Lake where he grew up and was educated, attending Devils Lake Public Schools.
Christopher cooked in many of the local restaurants including Old Main and Mr. and Mrs. J’s. After leaving Devils Lake, Christopher worked as a chef in Brainerd, Minnesota and also in Fargo until health problems forced him to retire.
Christopher loved to go fishing, ride motorcycle and even though he cooked for a living, he still loved to cook for his family and make them a favorite special meal whenever he could. Nothing could bring more joy and a smile to Chris than spending time with his children and family.
Through all trials and tribulations, Christopher always felt the love of his family and that is what got him through each day.
Christopher is survived by his children Codey Koble, Cynthia Thompson and Spencer Thompson; special friend and mother of their children Cheryl Kelly of Brainerd; sister Elisa Ann and her husband Jared Christensen of Devils Lake; brother Jose Jerez of Miami, Florida; nephews and nieces George Oscar Jerez, Cassandra Ann, Kaylee and Carter Christensen; aunts and uncles Anita Elkamouny, Donna and Karrol Olson, George Regan, Terry and Susan Eback and Rich and Noelle Eback; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins also survive.
Christopher was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Micheal Blaufuss; sister-in-law Christine Jerez; aunt Sheri Regan; uncle Ron Eback; grandparents John and Julia Eback and Lowell and Mae Thompson and Opal Bartlett.
