Rose E. Anderson, 83 of Devils Lake formerly of Cando, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake where she has been a resident for the past 11 years.
Funeral Services for Rose will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Rose will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Rose will be her grandchildren Paul Hjelden, Brian Hjelden, Lori Jean Morin, Michael Horton, Brittany Anderson and Jessi Gangl.
Music will be provided by Stella Edwards.
Rose Saari was born on July 25, 1927 at Rolla, ND the daughter of Sam and Elsie (Martin) Saari. She grew up and was educated in Rolla, attending Rolla Public School.
Rose was united in marriage to Herbert O. Anderson in Crookston. Following their marriage they lived in Cando until Herbert was released from active duty with the North Dakota National Guard and they moved to Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family. Rose worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Lake Ready Mix. Herbert passed away on November 19, 1970.
Rose was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rose is survived by her daughters Maureen (Bob) of Washington State, Glenda Horton of Oregon, Byron L. Anderson also of Oregon; sons Herbert Duane “Andy” (Jo-Nell) Anderson of Minot, ND and James Anderson of Underwood, ND; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brother Eddie (Colleen) Saari of Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert; daughter Marlys Hjelden; grandson Matthew Duane Anderson; brothers Alexander Saari, Harold Saari and Reno Saari.
