Virginia Mae Anderson was born on May 31, 1927 to Andor and Ida (Tangen) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Larimore, ND, graduating from Larimore High School with the class of 1945. She was proud to be a member of what has become known as the “Greatest Generation”.
Virginia married Webb Arnold Wade in February of 1949. To this union was born four children, Thomas, twins, Dennis and Denise and Vida. Webb passed away in 1961.
Virginia was united in marriage to Lloyd Pederson on September 8, 1962. They had one child, Mikal and Virginia proudly gained a step-daughter, Jill and two step granddaughters, Nancy and Janna. Lloyd died on December 12, 1983.
Virginia was a charter member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and Quilters Guild. She was also a founding member of “Grandma’s Dart League”.
Virginia spent her life as a housewife and caretaker for her family. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed knitting and sewing, which includes making around 75 Christmas stockings for family and friends. She loved to entertain and socialize with family and friends. Virginia was well known as the “Lefse Queen”. She would make 400-500 rounds of lefse each Christmas to provide to her family and friends. To this day, Our Saviors Church still uses her lefse recipe. Virginia loved to travel and that included travel in the United States and abroad to Norway, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and also an Alaskan Cruise. She was the “ring leader” for family reunions and family get togethers; family was everything to Virginia.
Despite any disabilities that Virginia had to overcome, she strived each day to be as independent as possible. She taught herself to write with her “good” hand, to operate her scooter so that she could attend church and social events whenever possible and so much more. She and her family were so thankful to the staff of Heartland Care for their patience, understanding, care and concern and assistance in allowing Virginia her independence for these past 10 years. Virginia without a doubt, lived life to its fullest and always with a smile on her face.
Virginia is survived by her children Thomas (Stacie) Wade of Devils Lake, Dennis Wade of Phoenix, Arizona, Denise Wade of Sabin, Minnesota, Vida (Larry) Wilkinson of Gillette, Wyoming, Mikal (Susan) Pederson of Alexandria, Minnesota and Jill (Alan) Roeder of Breezy Point, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren Amy (Jeff) Appel, Jordan, MN, Mackenzie Wade and Taylor Wade, Devils Lake; Dustin (Sumer) Wade, Livermore, California, Brent Wade and Joanna Wade, Rotura, New Zealand; Matthew Pederson, Thomas Pederson and Emma Pederson, Alexandria, MN; Nancy (Andy) Lyons, Duluth Georgia and Janna Barr, Le Sueur, MN; one great granddaughter Hadlea Appel; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
