Duane Allan was born on August 3, 1946 at Devils Lake, ND, the son of Einar T. and Ruth (Jacobson) Stubson. He grew up in Warwick and was baptised and confirmed at Warwick Lutheran Church, where he remained a faithful member. Duane was educated in Warwick and graduated from Warwick High School as Valedictorian with the class of 1964. He then attended UND, Grand Forks, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in electrical engineering in 1968. After graduation, Duane began his career as a product engineer with IBM in Rochester, MN. He later assumed management assignments and ultimately became Senior Engineer in the Rochester Development Lab where he designed new processors for business computers and intelligent terminals, and held the position of Chief Architect for processor chip design. Duane was highly respected for his knowledge and was frequently called on to resolve problems in many IBM locations world-wide. Health problems forced him to retire in 1994 and he returned to the family farm, making it his home until his death.
In his younger years, Duane excelled in bridge and was a trophy winning billiards player. He enjoyed boating on his cabin cruiser at Lake Pepin on the Mississippi River in summertime and during winters he loved to down-hill ski. More recently, Duane enjoyed the game of golf.
Duane was a quiet, gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
