ELROY D. HENSRUD

Funeral Services for Elroy D. Hensrud, 82 of Devils Lake who passed away on March 10, 2011 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Rev. Rafe Allison will officiate. Elroy Duaine Hensrud, son of Carl and Clara (Dakken) Hensrud was born on March 12, 1928 in the Tolna-Pekin area of North Dakota, where he attended school. Elroy served in the United States Army, Fort Carson, Colorado from 1951-1953, where he met his wife Ethel Mae Adams. Upon completion of military service, they returned to Tolna. In 1958, they moved to Devils Lake and Elroy worked at S&L and C&G Hardware before starting his own upholstery shop and carpet cleaning service, which he operated for 14 years. Elroy was a true craftsman at his trade and loved woodworking projects and hunting. Elroy was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake Rural Fire Department and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Elroy is survived by his sons, Lance Hensrud of Kemmerer, Wyoming and Leslie Hensrud of Devils Lake and daughter Connie Estvold of Fordville, ND; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four sisters Preceded in death by his parents and son Wayne Hensrud in 2008.
