Richard J. “Dick” Schuler, 74 of Munich, ND passed away early Thursday morning, September 22, 2011 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center, Aneta, ND from complications of Lewy Body Disease. Mass of Christian Burial for Dick will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Munich, ND. Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Sarles American Legion Post #276. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Dick will be his nephews, Gary Schuler, Mike Schuler, Casey Sidener, Randy Sidener, Matthew Peterson and David Limke. Reading the Scriptures will be Dick’s nephew Lynn Schuler and Gift Bearers will be Dick’s grandchildren Kinsey Kaylor and Caleb Schuler. Music will be provided by soloist, Tanya Wirth and St. Mary’s Choir with Jane Wirth, pianist. Richard John Schuler, son of Roman and Marguerite (Artz) Schuler was born on April 7, 1937 at home in Munich, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Munich, graduating from Munich High School with the class of 1955. Dick would call Munich home for most of his life. He entered the Aneta Parkview Health Center in December 2006. Dick served with the Army National Guard, Camp Grafton from February 1959 until October 1964 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4. Dick was united in marriage to Marcia Sidener on February 6, 1971 in Lansford, ND. They made their home in Munich where Dick was employed in the family business of Schuler Hardware and Implement. Dick was a volunteer fireman with the Munich Fire Department for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Devils Lake Elks Lodge. Dick is survived by his wife Marcia of Wood Lake; children Amy Jorgenson of Bismarck, ND, Neil Schuler of Omaha, Nebraska, Amber and her husband Todd Kaylor of Beulah, ND, Erica Schuler also of Bismarck and Paul Schuler and his wife Sabrina of Great Falls, Montana; grandchildren Kiernan and Teagan Jorgenson, Kinsey and Blake Kaylor, Caleb Schuler and Decker and Celtie Schuler; brothers and sisters Tom (Mary Ellen) Schuler, Munich, Mary (Chuck) Richards, Cook, MN, Marge Bowin, Sterling, CO, Harold (Jan) Schuler, Kinsale, VA, Irene (Jack) Meier, Hastings, MN, Linda (Gary) Nyquist, Crossville, TN, Ellen (Stan) Erickson, Grand Forks, ND and Pat Nygaard, Shoreview, MN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jim Deibert, Fargo, ND, Jackie (Pat) Limke, Steve (Audrey) Sidener, Mike (Marie) Sidener, Paula Sidener and Sue Peterson all of Minot, ND; many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; sister Millie Deibert; brother Steven Schuler and father-in-law and mother-in-law R.T. and Helen Sidener.
