Dalen D. Green, 72 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Friday evening, September 23, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of family and Mercy Hospice.
Funeral Services for Dalen will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David Birkeland officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Friday, September 30, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Graveside Services will be held at the Park Ridge Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN on Monday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Dalen will be Sam Johnson, Brian Reslock, Craig Thornby, Tim Walker, Duaine Ash and David Garske. Music will be provided by Dalen’s nieces Mindy Piper, Debbie Walker and Merideth Griffin, vocalists with Congregational Hymns and Lynda Pearson, organist.

Dalen DeForest Green was born on August 20, 1939 at Thief River Falls, Minnesota the son of DeForest S. and Maybelle (Rife) Green. He attended Lincoln School in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1957. He continued his education at UND and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts in 1962. Dalen was united in marriage to Anne Snedeker on June 25, 1966 at Wheeling, West Virignia.
Dalen taught in Baltimore MD, Melbourne, Australia, Esmond ND, North Dakota School for the Deaf, Lake Area Vo-Tec Center both of Devils Lake and Tolna ND. Dalen was named North Dakota Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year in 1984. Along with a career in education, Dalen also was the owner and operator of his own Graphics Arts business-D&A SignCraft in Devils Lake.
Dalen was a member of the Lake Region Anglers Association, serving as Past President and on the Board of Directors and was the chair-person of many fishing tournaments. Dalen was also a member of the United Methodist Church and the Sons of Norway. When Dalen wasn’t working and teaching and after retirement he loved to go fishing and do woodworking in his shop.
Dalen leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Anne Green of Devils Lake; children Derek Green and his wife Katherine of Marietta, Georgia and Susan and her husband Darcy Manion of Stuttgart, Germany; grandchildren Jillian Green, Trevor Green and Kiara Manion; his brother Dennis Green of Clarkston, Michigan and nieces and nephews Debbie Walker, Mindy Piper, Merideth Griffin, Michael Weir, Mark Weir and Kristi Loy; mother-in-law Betty Snedeker of Wheeling, West Virginia; sister-in-law Edie (David) Weir of Winchester, Virginia; several grand nieces and grand nephews also survive.
Dalen was preceded in death by his father, DeForest Green; mother Maybelle Green-Soiney; step father Ray Soiney; father-in-law Henry Snedeker and nephew Douglas Green.
