Judy G. Sagen-Dzul
Memorial Services for Judy G. Sagen-Dzul will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in the Churchs Ferry Cemetery, rural Churchs Ferry.
Judy G. Sagen, 59, was born to Garland and Margaret Sagen in Devil’s Lake, ND September 9, 1952 and went to live with the Lord on September 19, 2011 after suffering from a severe heart attack.
Judy was baptized in Churches Ferry, later was confirmed in Hillsboro, ND, where the family lived for 17 years. She belonged to 4-H and was Miss Poppy of Hillsboro. She was active in the youth programs at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. After the family moved to Grand Forks, she graduated from Grand Forks Red River High School. She later attended Nurses training in Fargo, ND graduating in 1972. She put her training to use at Basin Electric Power Cooperative and volunteered with the Mercer County Ambulance in Beulah, ND. In the 1980’s Judy and family moved to Hillsboro, ND where she worked as a nurse at American Crystal Sugar and also volunteered with the Trail County Ambulance. Judy then attended UND School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND and graduated as a Physician’s Assistant. After beginning her practice she served for a time as a Coroner in Minnesota.
Throughout her life, Judy, had a passion for helping those who where less fortunate. She was an avid reader with a large library of books, rarely was she seen without a book in hand. She also enjoyed, sewing, gardening with her favorite flower being a yellow rose and fishing with her Mom and Dad. Judy had a zest for fun in life and had a contagious laugh. Once Judy retired she moved to Mexico where she lived with her husband, Sandy Dzul, until her death.
Judy is survived by her husband, Sandy, Cancun, Mexico, her parents, Garland and Margaret Sagen, Devil’s Lake, ND, her brothers, Kenneth (Laura) Bedford, TX, Rodney (Trudy) Beulah, ND, her two children Noah Miller (Diana) Fargo, ND, and Tahirih Field, Fargo, ND, her grandchildren Sydney, Ashton and Mason and several cousins, nieces, nephews and her grand-niece and grand-nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her Grandparents Clarence and Inga Sagen, Irvin and Francis Owens and several aunts and uncles.
