JEAN K. DAVIS-MILLER

Jean K. Davis Miller, 61 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Wednesday evening, October 26, 2011 at her home in the loving care of her family and Mercy Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Jean Katherine was born in Devils Lake on August 10, 1950, the seventh child of Edith (Weed) and John M. Davis. She graduated from Central High School in Devils Lake and Moorhead State University. Jean went to Chimbote, Peru in 1976 and worked for 3 years at a school for students with special needs. Jean returned to Devils Lake in 1980 to manage the family business, The Davis Motel. She continued as the manager until her death. On February 28, 1998, she was united in marriage to Gregory J. Miller in Devils Lake. Jean was an avid gardener. Besides her passion for the many flowers planted around the motel, she raised a sizeable vegetable garden. Jean loved animals and was devoted to the cats and dogs she cared for over the years. Jean was preceded in death by her parents. Jean is survived by her husband, Greg; sister, Shirley (Jerry) Keating, Minneapolis; brothers Reverend John Davis, Chimbote Peru, Tom (Remy) Davis, Albuquerque NM, Tim (Lana) Davis, Bottineau, Jim (Pam) Davis, Mandan, Joe (Joan) Davis, Devils Lake and Bill (Susan) Davis, Mandan; father-in-law and mother-in-law Cecil and Marjorie Miller, Devils Lake; many nieces and nephews.
