Melvin W. Maddock Sr., 59 of Devils Lake formerly of Minot ND passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Memorial Services for Melvin will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
Melvin Wayne was born on March 8, 1952 in Torrance, California, the Victor and Mildred (Hansen) Maddock. They moved to Minot, ND where he attended school.
On November 28, 1973, Melvin entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War with the 55th Signal Company and was honorably discharged on May 21, 1975 at Fort Hood, Texas with the rank of Private First Class.
Melvin loved fishing and fixing things, especially old trucks. Melvin had many life adventures and traveled whenever possible.
As Melvin joins his parents and brother Garry in heaven, he will be sorely missed by many.
Melvin is survived by his loving family. His daughters Regina Richter of Devils Lake and Melissa Maddock-Carlson of Clara City, Minnesota; sons Ryan Richter of Devils Lake and Melvin (Kerry) Maddock Jr. of Minnesota; grandchildren Brooklyn, Dusthan, Chad, Catherine and Jade; sisters Linda (Jim) Holisky of Bottineau, Diann (Russell) Mhall of Minot and Viki Roberts of Kernsville, North Carolina; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
