Patricia Delores, the third of seven children was born on January 25, 1941 in Esmond, North Dakota to Peter and Dagny (Roholt) Oakland. She attended school in Esmond, with the exception of 7th and 8th grade which were attended in Fillmore, ND. She graduated as Valedictorian from Esmond High School with the class of 1959. Pat moved to Fargo and worked as a waitress for a few years then to Minneapolis where she modeled clothing for Macy’s Department Store. In 1967, Pat married Dennis Brevig. They owned and operated several restaurants and steak houses in North Dakota and Colorado, making their home in Bismarck for several years and also Loveland, Colorado. While living in Loveland, they managed Colorado Tractor Sales until Dennis took an early retirement due to health problems and they returned to his home town of Turtle Lake, ND. Dennis passed away in 2002. After Dennis passed away, Pat moved to Leeds, ND for a time and then to Devils Lake where she lived and worked most recently at The Fashion Boutique until her death. Pat and Dennis loved the flea markets and could always find a good deal. Pat was very talented at finding beautiful antiques and collectables. She was a very talented decorator. Another one of Pat’s talents was her cooking ability. Pat was an amazing cook. She enjoyed it immensely and could quote you what page a recipe was on in any of her cookbooks. That is why she and Dennis were so successful in the restaurant business. We have lost someone so very special to us and Pat will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her as the unique and special person she was. Pat is survived by her daughter Carla Howell (Jay) of Loveland, Colorado; her two grandsons Michael (Haley) Howell and their son Orion Schroeder-Howell all of Loveland and David Howell (Clayton Okaly) of Brooklyn, New York; sisters Carol (Ralph) Schmidt of Rugby, ND, Paulette (Ken) Bischoff of Devils Lake and brother Allen Oakland of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law Velma Oakland of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota; Dennis’ daughters Laurie (Lekan) Oladele of Glascow, Montana and Renee (Ron) Pribyl of Havre, Montana; numerous nieces and nephews and her very loving companion, her dog Sassy. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis; granddaughter Angela Marie in infancy; brothers, Harold Oakland, Stanley Oakland and Ronald Douglas Oakland in infancy and a sister-in-law Carol Oakland.
