LuVerne Rogness, 71 of Devils Lake formerly of the Pekin area, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Luverne were held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Chaplain Rachel Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Pekin Cemetery.
LuVerne was born on August 5, 1940 at McVille, ND the son of Will and Bernice Rogness. He grew up on the family farm in rural Pekin, ND. He attended country school and also Pekin High School.
LuVerne loved living on the farm. He was a stand-out performer in the local rodeo circuit. He treated his horses like family along with all the other animals on the farm. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews as much as he could. He was always helping neighbors with jobs and never asked for anything in return. LuVerne had many friends. You never heard anyone say a negative word about LuVerne. He was just a very special man.
LuVerne is survived by his sisters Geneva Haugen and Carol Mertz; brother Willis (Helen) Rogness and several nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.
