Myron E. Papachek, 75 of Hamar, ND passed away early Friday morning, February 17, 2012 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Myron will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Warwick Lutheran Church, Warwick, ND. Pastor Jeff Kapelle and Pastor Loren Waldo will officiate and burial will be in Warwick Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present at that time.
Memorials may be directed to the Warwick Lutheran Church and/or the Tolna EMT’s in memory of Myron.
Urn and Flag Bearers will be Sandy and Curt Rekkedal.
Honorary Bearers for Myron will be his, nephews Steve Waldo, Alan Waldo, Joe Papachek, Dale Gillett, Kevon Gillett, Tim Gillett, John Gillett, Tom Gillett and Dean Papachek, and grand and great grandchildren, Sandy and Curt Rekkedal, Curtis and Chase Rekkedal and Julius and Nolan Gillett.
Music will be provided by Karol Kapelle.
Myron Eugene was born on March 20, 1936, rural Warwick, ND, the son of Eugene and Laura (Casper) Papachek. He was a baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of the Warwick Lutheran Church. Myron grew up in the Warwick area and attended school at Tokio, Free Peoples, and Warwick, ND. He entered the United States Army and served his country from 1954-1956.
Myron was united in marriage to Bonnie Gillett on June 30, 1957. He worked construction for a time, then began work at the Hamar Cooperative Elevator, where he was employed for 37 years.
Myron enjoyed fishing, working in his garage on woodworking, and tinkering with other projects.
Myron is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of 54 years; his son, Jim of Jamestown, ND and his daughter, Teresa and her husband Vince Schneider of Hawley, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Sandy (Curt) Rekkedal of Portsmouth, Virginia; great grandchildren Curtis and Chase Rekkedal, Julius and Nolan Gillett; sister Lorene and her husband Ron Waldo of Warwick; brother, Don Papachek of Moorhead, Minnesota; sister-in-law Bonnie Gillett of Tolna, ND; aunts Phyllis Papachek of Devils Lake and Ila Halvorson of Tolna; nephews, nieces and many cousins.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law James, Roger and Don Gillett.
