Bernadine “Boan-Tee”G. Tikanye, 45 of Cannonball formerly of the WoodLake/Tokio area of North Dakota passed away from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Friday morning, March 2, 2012 on the Standing Rock Reservation.
Funeral Services for Bernadine will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tokio Recreation Center, Tokio, ND. Pastor Tony American Horse Jr., Pastor Evan and Ione Elk will officiate. Burial will be in the Bdecan Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Tokio.
A Wake will be held at the Tokio Recreation Center on Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service in the evening. All drum groups are welcome to share their music.
The procession to the Recreation Center will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from Wal-Mart.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Bernadine will be Greg Mindt, Kevin Mindt, Brandon Tikanye, Joel Redfox, Austin LaVallie, Steven Redfox, Tommy Robertson and Steven Tikanye.

Bernadine Gail was born October 7, 1966 at Devils Lake, ND to Francis Tikanye Sr. and Rosemary Greywind-McKay. She was also raised by Sharon and Albin Georgeson and the late Annie Redfox. She was raised in Tokio and attended elementary school at St. Michael, ND and some high school at Fort Totten, then graduated from Warwick High School with the class of 1984.
Bernadine met Kevin Mindt and they were united in marriage in 1985. They became the proud parents of 5 children. Bernadine went on to school and graduated from United Tribes in 1995 in Office Technology. Bernadine and Kevin ended their relationship in 1996 and remained close friends.
Shortly after, Bernadine met her lifetime partner Curtis Bravebull. They resided in Mandan before making their home in Cannonball, ND with their two favorite dogs, Cubby and Sister.
Bernadine enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, loved the outdoors and going for long walks, enjoyed going to the Thrift Stores, loved movies, reading, puzzles, lifetime stories and her favorite food was crab cakes. She was very caring of others, kind hearted, funny, hardworking, a loving and dedicated Mom and Grandma. She will be forever in our hearts and never forgotten. We love you Mom!
Bernadine is survived by her loving family. Her children, Gregory Mindt, Mary Mindt, Christine MIndt, Amanda Mindt and Mariah Mindt; grandchildren Shakira R. Alberts, Priseis A. GoodHouse, Hailie K. GoodHouse, Patience S. GoodHouse and Devereaux L. Herman; brothers and sisters Corrine Tikanye-Stretches, Francis “Poncho” Tikanye Jr., Duane Tikanye, Francine Tikanye, Beverly Tikanye, Yvonne Georgeson, Maynard “Jumbo” Tikanye, Delphine Tikanye and Randy Tikanye; special friend Curtis Bravebull; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Bernadine joins those who have gone before her. Her parents Francis and Rosemary; grandparents Archie and Gertrude Redfox Sr. and Joseph and Mary Jane Greywind; brothers and sisters Emery Tikanye, Myron Greywind, Thomas Tikanye, Cornelius Tikanye and Jonathan Tikanye; uncles Archie Redfox Jr., Robert “Bob” Redfox, Arthur Thompson and Calvin Thompson; aunties Etta Redfox, Karen Redfox Paul, Joanne Redfox, Annie Redfox, Miriam “Coco” Redfox and Mary Esther Touche and many cousins.
