Amelia J. Thompson, 86 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND with Fr. Charles Leute OP celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday (today) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. There will be no procession to St. Michael’s Church. We welcome your presence at all services for Amelia. Serving as Casket Bearers for Amelia will be Kenneth Thompson, Tom Weightman, Clifford Cavanaugh, Bruno Cavanaugh, Dean Jetty and Craig Brown. Amelia J Thompson, daughter of Frank and Algenia (St.Clair) Jetty was born in St Michael, ND on June 24, 1925. She spent her youth in the St. Michael area and attended school there. Amelia went to visit family in Montana and she met the love of her life, Phillip Thompson and they later married and established their home in Kentucky. Here they lived, worked and raised their children. Phillip passed away in 1975, so Amelia returned to North Dakota to the Tokio area and worked for many years at Sioux Manufacturing Corp. For the past 20 plus years, Amelia has made Devils Lake her home. For many of those years, Amelia made her home with her son Charles and most recently was cared for by her grandson Kenneth. Amelia loved spending her free time sewing and quilting. She also liked to attend yard sales on the weekends. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time at the casino playing her sizzling sevens. Another favorite pastime was when she was spending time with her family and friends. Amelia is survived by her loving family. Her daughters Sandra Cecil of Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee and Phyllis Walden of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister Bernadette (Craig) Brown of St. Michael; grandchildren Sarah, Ross, Ann, Kendra and Kenneth; great grandchildren Darrick, Alayna, Charles, Eric and Will; sister-in-law Mary Jetty of Belcourt, ND; many nieces and nephews. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Phillip; son Charles Thompson; daughter Donna Thompson; brothers and sisters Richard Jetty, Verna Dammel, Elmer Jetty, John Jetty, Clarence Jetty, Irene Cavanaugh, Sylvester Jetty, Viola Jetty, Carrie RedDay and in their infancy George Napoleon, Francis Wayne and Clifford Ambrose Jetty.
