Martha Jean Littlewind Robertson Martha was born August 21, 1959 in Devils Lake, ND to Pius and Mary “Waanatan” Littlewind. She entered into Heaven on April 10, 2012 at Devils Lake, ND. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 17 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Ft. Totten, with interment in St. Jerome’s Cemetery rural Ft. Totten. Celebrating Mass will be Father Charles Leute, OP with the help of Deacon Tony McDonald. Procession will leave Spirit Lake Marina parking lot at 4:30 pm on Monday, April 16th to the wake services beginning 5:00 pm at the Crow Hill Rec Center, rural Fort Totten. Rosary will begin at 8:00 pm. Music will be shared by Tony and Vina McDonald. All drums welcome to share their songs. Martha was an enrolled member of the Spirit Lake Tribe. She attended elementary school at Little Flower School in St. Michael & New Rockford Public School. She attended Four Winds High School where her interest in writing began with her work on the yearbook. Martha was a candidate for service with the religious order of the Oblate Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Marty, SD. She returned home to share her love of God she held in her heart. Martha loved caring for children and enjoyed watching their happiness. In the summer of 1984 her only child and cherished son Matthew Littlewind was born. On March 3, 2004 she was united in marriage with David Robertson. They currently made their home in Devils Lake. Martha was an avid writer and had superior penmanship. She was working to have her writings published. Martha always shared her support by attending her family member’s activities in Rodeos, Pow Wows, Moccasin Games, Basketball, Baseball games and prayer meetings. Martha will be remembered for putting others before herself. Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered. Martha is survived by her husband David Robertson, son Matthew James Littlewind, her special grandchildren Elizabeth, LaShanti, Shantel, Madelyn, and Matthew Jr., Aston, Keyson, Michelle & baby Kal Littlewind. Special nephew Marlo Two Hearts, brothers Clifford (Georgie), Sylvester “Son” and Eugene “Buckshot” Littlewind, sisters Renita (Bud) Shaw and Marsha Martin, brother- in-law Cornelius Kirk and Hunka mother Helena Littleghost. Hunka sisters Lisa & Carol Littleghost, aunts Pauline Greywater, Inez “Elaine” Robertson, Elizabeth “Libby” Littleghost, Arlene Gomez, Maxine Peltier, Irene Littlewind, Judi Ami, Lorraine Greybear, Christine Alex, Millicent Little and Corrina Chaske, uncles Leroy Littleghost, Raymond Sherman, John Chaske and Winfield Chaske, and in-laws Rev. Wilbur (Judy) Robertson. Casket Bearers will be Kellen Littlewind, James Yankton, Jr., Richard Littleghost, David Sherman, cousin David Robertson, Mark Littleghost, Raybert “Rocky” Littlewind, and “Lil” Son Littlewind. Honorary Pall Bearers Anderson Twins, “Wiggs” and Rena, Marcella Green, Brenda Whitetail, Pat Peltier, Craig Brown, Bob Charboneau, Peter Wentz, Peggy Cavanaugh, Darlene Wadsworth, Johanna Robertson Hunt, Roberta Beada Littleghost, Dallas Littlewind, Sr., Colleen Montieth, Becky Longie, Jeaneen Littleghost, Ambrose Littlewind, Jr., Adrian Thomas, Lila Waanatan Anderson, Maxine Waanatan Buckles and Rick Schemp and Phyllis Walking Eagle. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marla Kirk and Carol Olson, brother, Alfred Littlewind, paternal and maternal grandparents and many of her loved uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces & nephews.
