Theresa Irene was born on December 16, 1925 at Grafton, ND the daughter of Edward and Emma (Delorme) Pelletier. She was reared and educated in the Glaston and Joilette area. Her mother had severe health problems and her father died when Terri was very young so Terri helped to raise her younger siblings and also worked as a telephone operator in Grafton.
Theresa was united in marriage to Gaston J. “Jack” Corneillie on October 8, 1946 at Joilette ND. They established their home in Grafton, where they lived, worked and raised their family. In 1962 they moved to Devils Lake where they lived the rest of their lives. Gaston passed away on December 19, 2007.
Terri was a very gifted seamstress and made clothes for the entire family. She made many of the girls’ prom dresses and also made her daughter, Yvonne’s wedding dress. Unfortunately in the later years, her arthritis prevented her from continuing her sewing. Terri also was the “beautician” for her family and many relatives. After moving to Devils Lake, Terri cooked at Camp Grafton several summers.
Terri devoted her life to caring for her husband and family. Her faith and family came before anything else in her life. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the many many little things she did as a practice of her faith and in keeping the church clean and in order went unnoticed by many, but were great blessings to all. Her quiet faith moved mountains.
Terri is survived by her children
and their spouses, Yvonne Kaul of Grand Forks, ND; Gene and Gloria Corneillie of Devils Lake, ND; Victoria and Melvin Webb of Cavalier, ND; Deborah and Steve Mears of Rugby, ND; Diane and Ron Bonine of Young America, MN; Charlotte and Kyle Anderson of Fargo, ND and Terry Lee Corneillie also of Devils Lake; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; half sister Marian (LaHaise) Worthington of California and many nieces and nephews.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Archibald LaHaise; husband Gaston; brother Henry “Hank” Pelletier and sister Juliette Pelletier Berry; half brothers Gerald, Albert and Lawrence LaHaise and half sisters Emma and Alice LaHaise.
