Michael W. Joshua, “Isnana Waste Wastena” (He’s the Best) 58 of Mesa, Arizona formerly of Devils Lake and the Spirit Lake Nation, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at a Mesa Hospital.
The Wake for Michael will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center, Fort Totten, ND on Sunday, July 22, 2012 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. from the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort.
Funeral Services for Michael will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center. Fr. Charles Leute OP will officiate and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
Michael Wayne was born on September 28, 1953 at Fort Totten, ND the son of Florence (Adams) and Lawrence Joshua Sr. He was educated in Fort Totten and graduated from Fort Totten High School with the class of 1972. Michael enjoyed playing the drums in the band TNT, listening to music and telling childhood stories. He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his children Charity Joshua, Michelle Joshua, Chad Joshua, Jason Joshua and Amy Joshua; stepchildren Cory Vilandre and Levi Vilandre; sister-in-law Florence Joshua; aunts Sylvia Brownshield, Catherine Howard and Victoria Joshua; uncles William Joshua and Floyd McKay; adopted sisters Violet Smith, Lorna Logie, Florestine Peltier, Lois Littlewind, Edith Peltier and Andrea Peltier; god children Ivan Lovejoy, Melvin Peoples Jr. and Lydell Bigtrack and special friend Theresa Pacheco.
Preceded in death by his parents Florence and Lawrence; brother Lawrence Joshua Jr.; sister Cecelia Joshua; nephew Lawrence Joshua III; uncle Francis Joshua; aunt Josephine Tomahawk.
Serving as Pallbearers for Michael will be Tommy Joshua, Frank Cavanaugh, Larry Adams, Shane Peltier, Kenny Lohnes Sr., Jerome Jerry Joshua, Ivan Lovejoy and Shane Eback Sr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Myron Spotted Horse, Terry Adams, Jacob Abraham, Roland Johnson and Roger McKay. Also special thanks to nurse Betty Flynn.
Music will be provided by the Spirit Lake Nation Singers and all drums are welcome to share their music in memory of Michael.
