Anita L. Anderson, 66 of Devils Lake passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Carrington Health Center in the loving care of her family and Mercy Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial for Anita will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Charles Leute OP will celebrate the Mass and Anita will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, August 16th beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Anita will be her grandsons Brett Thompson, Brandon Vogel, Adam Vogel, Andrew McGough, Cody Thompson, Casey Anderson, Dustin Vogel, Donovan McGough, Christopher McGough and Jay Thompson. Music will be provided by Sarah Anderson and Lynne Webster, vocalists and JoDee Lagein, organist. Anita Louise was born in Devils Lake on March 23, 1946 to Albert and Arlene (Paulson) Wetzel. She was reared on the Wetzel farm in Oberon, ND. She was the only girl in a family with five brothers. She attended school (K-12) in Oberon and graduated as part of the class of 1964. Anita married Robert Thompson on August 22, 1964 in Minnewaukan, ND. They made their home in Sheyenne and later moved to Grand Forks. They welcomed their four children Todd, Keely, Dawn and Troy. Anita was united in marriage to Robert Lee Anderson on June 18, 1980 in Grand Forks and established their home on the Anderson farm in Dazey, ND. Anita welcomed their three children Michael, Sarah and Brian. In 1985 the family moved to Devils Lake where she continued to make her home until the time of her death. Anita graduated from Lake Region Community College in 1987, thus beginning a working history with the college. Anita was also employed with the Census Bureau, LRSC business office and later served as the bookstore manager for another 10 years. Anita was later employed by Lake Region Corporation for 6 years as a resident caregiver. Anita was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and served on the church council. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lake Region Optimist Club. Anita had many talents and hobbies and was involved in many civic activities also. She was an excellent baker, (Betty Crocker had nothing over on Anita), loved to cook and for true enjoyment loved dancing at the KC Hall. But Anita was truly all about family, family, family. She was always very supportive of her kids and grandkids and loved each and every one of them and was so very proud of them all, that was just “Grandma Nita”. Anita is survived by her dear and precious family. Her three sons Todd and Lisa Thompson of Grand Forks, ND, Troy and Kathy Thompson of Fessenden, ND, Brian Anderson of Devils Lake, three daughters Keely Sabinash of Jamestown, ND, Dawn and Ben Schoeberl of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sarah Anderson and Courtney Gratton of Wilton, ND; two step daughters Rebecca Lawler of Fargo, ND and Renee and Royce Nelson of Bismarck, ND; twenty grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers Rodger (Cindy) Wetzel of Bismarck, ND, Tom(Deb) Wetzel of Sheyenne, ND, Tim Wetzel of Tacoma, Washington, Paul “Fritz” (Karen) Wetzel of New Rockford, ND and sister-in-law Pat Wetzel of Oberon, ND and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; son Michael Robert Anderson; Robert Anderson on February 25, 2012; brother Pete Wetzel; granddaughter Jennifer Hildebrant.
