Gary L. Winer

Gary L. Winer, 64 of Devils Lake formerly of Rock Lake and Cando, ND passed away at Heartland Care Center on Sunday, August 12, 2012 in the loving care of family and friends after a long battle against cancer. Funeral Services for Gary will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Rev. Timothy Stout officiating. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Gary was born on December 12, 1947 at Rock Lake, ND the son of Orville and Ellen (Albertson) Winer. He was reared on the family farm and educated at Rock Lake Public Schools. He lived for a time in Cando, ND but established his home in Devils Lake. While living in Devils Lake, Gary worked for twelve years at Central Middle School, retiring due to increasing health problems. Gary was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Westerns on TV. Gary loved his family and considered the many friends, students and faculty of the Middle School as his local family. Gary will be truly missed but never forgotten. Gary is survived by his sisters Sandra Carter of Washington and Dolly Winer of Oklahoma and brothers James Winer of South Dakota, Donald Winer of Oklahoma and Monty Halgrinson also of South Dakota; several nieces and nephews; dedicated and true friend, Ken Koppen and many friends and co-workers.
