WYNONA I. UNRUH

Wynona I. Unruh, 92 of Munich, ND passed away on Saturday evening, September 8, 2012 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of family. Funeral Services for Wynona will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Mennonite Church, Munich, ND with burial in the East Salem Cemetery, rural Munich. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Wynona Unruh was born June 11, 1920 in rural Munich, North Dakota, the eldest daughter of Dietrich and Anna (Hoffman) Dick. She was educated at Rose Hill Public School. Wynona met Dietrich Unruh and they were married on January 1, 1943. After their marriage, Wynona and Dietrich moved to Warroad, Minnesota for a few years and later moved back to Munich, then on to Clyde, North Dakota where they farmed until moving to Juneau, Alaska in 1962. In 1965, they moved to Dallas, Oregon for 2 ½ years, then back to the Clyde/Munich area to live. Wynona loved gardening and maintained a large vegetable garden. She also enjoyed woodworking and quilting. (She would help her husband finish his woodworking projects.) Wynona was very active in Christian work wherever she lived, including mission work in Alaska. If she wasn’t farming, she was traveling-Mexico, the Holy Land, Germany and more. In later years, many winter months were spent in Southern states. Wynona lived in Munich until going into a retirement home in Devils Lake in 2008. Wynona was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dietrich and Anna Dick; her husband, Dietrich Unruh on July 13, 1991; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Black; brothers, Lewis Dick and Leonard Dick. Wynona is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Dorcas Unruh of Bloomburg, Texas; grandchildren, Anne-Marie Black, Robert Black, James Unruh; great grandchildren, Christian Gonzales and John Black; sister, Lilah Dick of Munich, North Dakota; brother, Newton (Eunice) Dick of Lorena, Texas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dick of Richey, Montana and many nieces and nephews.
