Lillian I. Landsem, 96 of Edmore, ND died peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon, ND. Funeral Services for Lillian will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Living Word Free Lutheran Church, Edmore, ND with Rev. Craig Wentzel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Hans Cemetery, rural Edmore. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Lillian will be Jay Johnson, Benjamin Hoiland, Dean Hoiland, John Ryan Landsem, Casey Schuler and Darin Ullyott. Lillian Irene Anderson was born May 23, 1916 at Edmore, ND, the fourth of eight children to Henry and Ella (Elshaug) Anderson. She was raised and educated in the Edmore area. Lillian married Elmer Landsem on October 24, 1937 on her parents’ farm. They established their home on the Landsem farm, rural Edmore where they worked together and raised their family. They were the loving parents of five children, Judith, Delma, Lois, Diane and Curtis. Lillian was a stay at home wife and mother until her children were married or in college. She then worked at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home for over 25 years. Lillian was an active member of St. Han’s Lutheran Church, later the Living Word Church in Edmore and she was also a member of WMF. (Women’s Missionary Federation). Lillian loved to bake and took pleasure in baking buns, lefse and many other kinds of food which she so enjoyed sharing with friends and family. Above all, Lillian especially loved the Lord. She faithfully read her Bible and communed with her Lord daily. Lillian is survived by her children: Judith and her husband Richard Johnson of Walhalla, ND, Delma Erickson also of Walhalla, Lois and her husband Gary Heather of Federal Way, WA, Diane Hoiland of Alsen, ND and Curtis Landsem and his wife Pam of Edmore; eleven grandchildren Jay (Delane) Johnson, Lisa (Spencer) Koesterman, Tara (Ryan) Holland, Holly Erickson, Dean (Melanie) Hoiland, Benjamin (Stacy) Hoiland, Cami (Darin) Ullyott, Michael Heather, Amy (Mark) Armstrong, John Ryan Landsem and Jennifer McMinn; twenty-four great grandchildren; brother Ralph Anderson, Edmore and many nieces, nephews and their families. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in October of 1999; her parents; a beloved daughter; sons-in-law Lynn Erickson and Richard Hoiland; sister Vila Anderson and brothers Harry, William, Martin, Alvin and Lloyd Anderson. Lillian, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, will be greatly missed by her family.
