Elsie M. Kenner, 93 of Devils Lake, ND passed away at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake on Sunday, October 21, 2012 with family at her side.
Funeral Services for Elsie will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Buechler, Pastor, Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Elsie will be her family and friends. Music will be provided by Dennis and Jean Aardahl.
Elsie Marie, daughter of Olaf and Julia (Bryn) Johnson was born on July 4th, 1919 in Jordan, Montana. She grew up in rural Devils Lake and attended country school.
Elsie was united in marriage to Harold K. Kenner on October 30, 1937. They worked side by side and raised their family on the farm 3 miles west of Devils Lake, making this their home for many years. Harold passed away on September 21, 1999. Elsie remained on the farm until 2004 when she moved to the Heartland Courts in Devils Lake.
Elsie is survived by her daughters Margo Ehr of Minot and Luann Hirschkorn of Tucson, Arizona and son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Patty Kenner of Dickinson, ND; six grandchildren Jim (Adair) Ehr, Heidi (Jerry Lindlauf) Ehr; Shane (Dianne) Hirschkorn, Kelly (Joe) Pasternak; Tracy (Michael) Paulson and Wanda (Brett) Nilles; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ruth Kenner and Olive Johnson both of Devils Lake.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; sons-in-law Mel Ehr and Vernon Hirschkorn and daughter-in-law Linda Kenner; sisters Signe Bryn and Mildred Mallard; brothers Odin Johnson and Sidney Johnson; sisters-in-law Lela Johnson, Esther Hanson, Edna Kenner and Alpha Jaeger; brothers-in-law Adolf Bryn, Tom Mallard, Bill Jaeger, Darwin, Lloyd, Walter and Art Kenner.
