Rick Duane was born on September 21, 1958 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Duane and Louise (Cash) Dahl. He grew up in Hampden, attended Hampden Public School and graduated from Hampden High School with the class of 1976. Rick would live almost his entire life in the Hampden area.
Rick attended Lake Region Junior College, then began working for area farmers. He then worked at Hampden Oil for many years. Since the fall of 2007, Rick was employed with M & H Farms, rural Hampden.
In 2008, Rick met the woman who would become his wife and best friend. Rick and Sue Wear Wright were united in marriage on January 1, 2011 at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church. They celebrated their blessed union with a trip to Mexico. They established their home in Hampden.
Rick was a kind, loving and hard-working man. He loved being involved in farming. He had so many self-taught talents that were essential in his work and life in rural North Dakota. His talents as a mechanic were passed from several generations before him and even as a youngster he was interested in auto mechanics. He also was a talented carpenter and truly there didn’t seem to be anything Rick could not fix.
In off-time, Rick enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved dogs, especially his canine companion, Dakota. Rick also enjoyed following the NASCAR circuit and drivers and had attended a race in Bristol, Tennessee which was a very special trip for him.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; son Brandon Wright of Hawaii; daughter Stephanie and her husband Matt Borowski of Fargo and a grandson Macen Ray Borowski who was born on October 27, 2012, the day Rick passed from this earthly life; brother Randy Dahl of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Susan and her husband Lonnie Christianson of Langdon, ND; nieces Ashley Christianson and Heather Christianson both of Fargo; nephews Brian Christianson of Langdon and Craig Christianson also of Fargo; mother-in-law Shirley Wear of Moorhead, MN.
