Darlene E. Pasonault "Cookie" Jacobson, 70 of Devils Lake, ND, died Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo ND from complications resulting from a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19th at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Pastor Jamie Desai officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery and lunch to follow in the church fellowship hall.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday, November 18th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bernie Deplazes, David Vandergon, Peter Schmaltz, Donnie Belgarde, Larry Carson, Jerry Idland, the 4:30 Club, and all of Cookie's Grandchildren and her Great Grandson.
DarleneElizabeth "Cookie" Pasonault was born February 10th, 1942 in Devils Lake ND, the daughter of George Henry Pasonault and Ruth Evangeline (Aylesworth) Pasonault. Cookie was reared and educated in Devils Lake graduating from Devils Lake Central High School in 1960. After graduation Cookie attended Josef's School of Hair Design in Fargo, ND in 1961.
On April 29, 1961 she was united in marriage to Robert W. "Jake" Jacobson in Devils Lake, ND. They lived in Hawaii for a brief period while Bob was stationed in the US Navy. Upon his discharge they returned to Devils Lake where they had since lived. Bob passed away in May of 2001. Cookie worked for Mae's Beauty Shop for several years, eventually buying the salon and continuing to work at "Cookies" New Image Beauty Salon until she retired in 2006. After retiring from the beauty business she worked as the hostess at The View Fine Dining at Spirit Lake Casino for several years finally retiring in 2012. Cookie was also employed by Hall Trucking in Devils Lake at the time of her death.
She was a member of the Tuesday Coffee League Bowling crew, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Proz End of the Line 4:30 Club and for several years was a founding member of the Lake Region Rodeo Association.
Cookie was known as a "Gem", her beautiful smile and caring, accepting personality will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special, each in a different way. She loved her children and grandchildren. Family and friends were the most important things in her life. She was the first one to tell you that.
Cookie is survived by her four children. Daughter, Tracy Kouba, her husband Don of West Fargo, ND, son, Rob Jacobson, his wife Sheila of Perham, MN, daughter Jami Hall, her husband Brandon of Devils Lake and daughter Jennifer Jacobson also of Devils Lake; son-in-law Lonnie Lacina of Devils Lake; nine grandchildren; Cainen, Levi, Kendra, Tyla, Brady, Jordan, Lainey Jo, Tane "Butch", Traycer, and a great grandson Jaxon; brother-in-law Jim (Trudy) Jacobson of Wahpeton, ND; sister-in-law Clarice (Don) Hanson of Detroit Lakes, MN. Cookie also has several nieces and nephews.
Cookie was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob, her parents George and Ruth, her siblings Russel, Grace & Georgia, Bob’s parents Clarence and Gladys Jacobson.
