OSCAR A. DAMMEN

Oscar A. Dammen, 91 of rural Starkweather, ND passed away November 16, 2012 at the Towner County Medical Center, Cando, ND surrounded by his family. Oscar Arnold was born on a farmstead northeast of Starkweather, ND on July 18, 1921, only child of Ivar and Marie (Stamsta) Dammen. He was united in marriage to Lenora Bukowski on February 17, 1947 at the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church, Starkweather. To this marriage 6 children were born. They started farming in 1947 and retired in 2006. Oscar served on several local Boards during those years. Oscar enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Oscar is survived by his wife, Lenora; sons, Curtis (Jolene) Dammen of Shelly, MN, Clayton (Darla) Dammen of Starkweather, ND, Keith Dammen of McClusky, ND; daughters, Karen (Richard) Hanson also of Starkweather, Kathleen (Tim) Krebsbach of Terry, MT and Christy (John) Peters of Bisbee, ND. There are 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Ivar and Marie and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Services for Oscar will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake, ND with Rev. Bonnie Weaver, Pastor of Cando Lutheran Church officiating. Oscar will be laid to rest in Assumption of Mary Cemetery, rural Starkweather, ND. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:30 p.m. also at the Gilbertson Funeral Home. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Greg Plemel, Clint Goergen, Brian Peterson, Gordon Peterson, Doug Erickstad, Bob Bukowski and Donald Bertsch. Music will be provided by Dennis J. Dockter and Maureen Bertsch.
