Marie K. Kurtz, 90 of Devils Lake formerly of Havre, Montana passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake where she has resided since August of 2005.
Funeral Services for Marie will be held at the Heartland Care Center Chapel, Devils Lake on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday also at the Chapel. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later date.
Marie Kalma Olson was born on August 31, 1922 in Minnesota where she grew up and was educated.
Marie was united in marriage to John Kurtz on February 14, 1946 in Devils Lake. After their marriage they lived in Devils Lake and Bismarck, ND. In 1955, they moved to Havre, Montana where they lived, worked and raised their family. Marie worked as a Registered Nurse in the Havre Hospital for many years until the complications of Multiple Sclerosis forced her to retire. John passed away July 3, 2005.
After John’s death, Marie returned to Devils Lake where she has since made her home.
Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Marie is survived by her beloved children: sons, James Kurtz and his wife, Ann of Rancho Cordova, CA and Robert Kurtz and his wife, Joanna of Helena, MT and daughter Ann and her husband David Graim of San Leandro, CA; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Maryann Kurtz, Wallie Klier, Betty Herda and Casper and Madelyn Kurtz all of Devils Lake, Rosella and Jim Hannon of Minneapolis, MN, Julius and Joanne Kurtz of San Jose, CA, Marian Reller of Grand Forks, ND, Joe and Dorothy Kurtz of Bismarck, ND and Marian Kurtz of Jamestown, ND.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, a son in infancy and two brothers.
