Deanna Rose, daughter of Wayne and Adeline (McDonald) Trottier Sr., was born on November 13, 1960 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND. She was reared in Fort Totten and Belcourt, ND. She attended elementary school at St. Ann’s School in Belcourt, then her junior high and high school education was at Devils Lake Public School. Deanna graduated from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1979. She furthered her education at Lake Region Junior College, Valley City State Teacher’s College, UND and NDSU. Deanna was at one time married to Raymond Ringette.
Deanna used her education and talents in many ways. She was such a kind and loving person and dedicated her life to caring for those in need of her loving ways and big heart. She worked as a care giver for group homes in Fort Totten and Devils Lake and also with REM. She felt these experiences were the most rewarding of her life. She also was a nanny for a family in Boston for several years.
Deanna’s talent as a singer also brought her much joy and also joy to those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her beautiful voice. She sang at many weddings and funerals, was involved with productions at the Fort Totten Little Theater and along with family members, was very active in the worship services at her church.
Deanna was united in marriage to Michael Hjelseth in 1998. They established their home in Grand Forks through the years. They had just recently moved to Fargo due to Deanna’s ongoing medical problems and to be closer to her family.
Deanna loved to cook and bake and share all those delicious creations with her family and friends. It was said she did “wonders with cheese” and was known as the “Cheese Whiz.” Her eyes seemed brighter and her smile endless when she was around her family and dear friends. They came away with such a warm and special feeling after a day with Deanna.
We have lost such a beautiful person from our lives. She will never be forgotten.
Deanna is survived by her husband, Michael and son, Shawn Trottier both of Fargo; step-son, Eric Hjelseth of Grand Forks; one grandchild; father, Wayne Trottier Sr. of St. Michael; brothers and sister, Wayne (Paola) Trottier Jr. of Rugby, ND, David Trottier also of Rugby, Denice (Barry) Gage of Devils Lake and Darren (Wanda) Trottier of St. Michael; several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews also survive.
