Ross Peter, son of Martin “Chib” and Laura (Rondeau) Azure was born on April 26, 1956 at Devils Lake, ND. He grew up in the St. Michael area and attended St. Michael Little Flower Elementary School and then went to high school at Devils Lake Central High School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Pete was at one time married to Amy Anderson and they made their home in Devils Lake.
Pete spent his life working in construction, from grain bin assembly for Ed Lauinger, building construction with Albert Grohs, to being the owner and operator of “Quality Drywall”. Pete was united in marriage to Marilyn Kraft on March 22, 1996 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Pete continued operation of “Quality Drywall” and then in 1998 the family moved the business to Grand Forks and Pete also worked for other construction companies in the area.
Pete knew the beauty of man-made construction, but he was truly one with the beauty of nature, of the outdoors and God’s creations. Pete could enjoy the outdoors in so many ways; hunting, fishing, nature walks but especially those times when he was doing any of these things with “his beloved boys”. He was so very proud of each of them and time with them was so very precious to him.
In Pete’s youth he played hockey and loved to follow the game and was a “Fighting Sioux” hockey fan. He was an avid gun collector and also made many of his own fishing lures.
Pete leaves his precious family here on earth. His wife, Marilyn; sons, Taylor Azure and his wife JaCinda, Austin Azure and Andrew Azure all of Grand Forks; mother, Laura Azure, Devils Lake; Taylor’s mother, Amy Azure-Weigel of Devils Lake; brothers and sisters, Lynette Azure, Devils Lake, Scott Azure, Toppenish, WA, Leann (Neil) Christianson, Billings, MT, Tim (Carrie) Azure, Sisseton, SD, Simone (Therese Wos) Chicago, IL and Lane (Shannon) Azure, also of Devils Lake; father-in-law, John G.
