Ned Schneider, 99 of Webster, ND passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, ND.
Mass of the Resurrection for Ned will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Ned will be Lee LaBarre, Jeb LaBarre, Andy Schneider, Larry Schneider, Devin Schneider and Cody Schneider.
Music will be provided by JoDee Lagein.
Ned was born December 28, 1913 in Orrin, ND to Egnatz and Ursula (Leibham) Schneider. Ned was the last member of a pioneering immigrant family, who came from Russia in 1910.
Ned farmed and was proud of his horses and Hereford cattle. Ned retired in 1983 and kept very active, was an avid gardener who always had extra to give away.
He was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Crary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. He was also a member of the Farmers Union and Eagles Club, where he spent many hours shooting pool. Ned enjoyed watching baseball, boxing and western movies and liked to “win” at cards.
Ned devoted his life to taking care of his parents, sister and brother and did not marry. He was an excellent cook and his nephews still ask for an “Uncle Ned” size piece of cake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack of Yakima, WA, Frank of Webster and Wendlyn of Orrin; sister, Helen Mitzel of Devils Lake, Pauline Schneider also of Yakima and Martha of Webster.
Ned is survived by many nieces, nephews and their children.
