JOHN "JACK" BRADLEY DAUPHINAIS

John “Jack” Dauphinais, 60 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of the Resurrection for Jack will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Moen celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547. Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday, January 21st from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers for Jack will be Cecil Longie, James “Bimbo” Lenoir, Jay Wanna, Roger Feather, Kenny Charboneau, Bennett Brien, Bob Jacquemart and Dave Cavanaugh. Honorary Bearers will be Bradley Johnson, Christopher “Booper” Nelson, Greg Feather, Dean Dunn, Kirk Johnson, Chris Greywater, Jay de la Paz, Gloria BuckElk, Clarice WindyBoy, Brenda Robertson, Doveta Cavanaugh, Dane Cavanaugh, Howard “Howie” Wanna, Gerald Wanna, John Sherman, Jesse Cavanaugh and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547. If we forgot a name, it wasn’t intentional. Jack was special to so many people. Music will be provided by the Spirit Lake Singers. John Bradley, son of Peter and Dorothy (Lenoir) Dauphinais Sr. was born on May 6, 1952 at the Fort Totten Hospital. He grew up in the Fort Totten area attending elementary school in St. Michael and high school at Oberon Public School and the Benson County Agricultural School at Maddock. He entered the United States Army on July 11, 1972 at Fargo, ND. He served his country during the Vietnam War with Battery C 281st Field Artillery Company in Germany and also served in Turkey. Jack was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of Specialist 4 on July 11, 1974 and served with the Army Reserves until July of 1978. After his discharge, Jack returned to the Spirit Lake Nation and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and then worked with the BIA in Fort Totten and later in New Mexico. Jack lived and worked general construction in Belcourt and at the Minot Air Force Base and other North Dakota towns for several years. Jack and Marla LaFromboise were the proud parents of Jack’s son, Bradley John. Jack married Lisa Wanna and they welcomed three children, Alexis, Nicole and Oliver. For the past seventeen years, Jack and Eldora Feather have made a very special life together and were united in marriage in 2009. They established their home in the Fort Totten area living and working there and being close to their beloved family. Jack’s passion was basketball. He loved to play the game and keep active in the sport as much as possible. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, always creating something special for members of his family and his dear friends. Jack has left this earthly life much sooner than we had planned. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jack is survived by his wife, Eldora; children, Bradley John (Amy) Dauphinais, Alexis Wanna, Nicole (Mike) Dauphinais, Oliver (Tamara) Dauphinais, Justin (Brittany) Kraft, Royce Dauphinais (Moria), Becky Bird and Kevin (Danielle) Dauphinais, step-sons, Preston Feather and Lydell Jones; twenty-two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Velma (Vern) Lambert, Peter (Cindy) Dauphinais, Jr., Dorothea (Darcy) Olson, Dean(Sonta) Dauphinais, Darlene (Harry) Wallace, James Dauphinais, Laurie Dauphinais, Angela (Jess) Cavanaugh and Hyllis (Nancy) Dauphinais; step mother, Eva Dauphinais; step brothers and step sisters, Clayton (Deb) Peltier, Raymond (Linda) Peltier, Daniel (Jackie) Peltier, Debbie (Juan) Peltier, Douglas (Carleen) Peltier and Lisa (Craig) Engh; adopted brother Cecil Longie; many nieces, nephews and cousins. We cannot forget about his tag along dog Two Feathers. Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Victoria (Dubois) Lenoir, David and Mary Angelique (Martin) Dauphinais, his parents and step brothers, Allen Peltier and Cedric Peltier.
