Edwin Leo was born on June 9, 1937 at Esmond, ND, the son of Michael and Mary (Bachmeier) Pfau. He attended a rural grade school in Pierce County, ND and graduated from Esmond High School in 1955.
Edwin enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1955 and was honorably discharged in February of 1959. (I might include a bit more after I get the DD214) After discharge, Edwin worked for several years at the Pentagon and later with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where he traveled the globe- Japan, Turkey, Germany and London. While living in Falls Church, Virginia, Edwin met Mary Ellen and they were united in marriage. Edwin adopted Mary Ellen’s son, Tommy and they made their home in Virginia.
Edwin moved to Florida in 1986, where he worked as an electrical engineer for Computer Products, Inc., living in Fort Lauderdale, Margate and Pompano Beach. After he was diagnosed with MS and the illness progressed, he retired in 1993 and moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to family. In 2001, he moved to Devils Lake and resided at the Good Samaritan Center until his death.
Edwin’s interests and hobbies ranged from tennis, swimming to bowling, to watching football, basketball and baseball on TV. Ed loved Florida. He loved the palm trees, having fruit trees in his backyard, and going to the beach and using his metal detector. His sense of humor, his patience, his teasing interaction, endeared Edwin to the nursing staff at the Good Samaritan Home and Mercy Hospital.
