DelRay E. Sanderson

DelRay Sanderson of Devils Lake, ND passed away early Friday morning, February 15, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. He was 61 years old. Funeral Services for DelRay will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake with Rev. David Birkeland officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Pallbearers for DelRay will be Robert Wang, Ethan Wang, Kent Nehring, Brandon Nehring, Clint Oehlke and Steve Heilman. Honorary Bearers are the friends and staff of REM, Lake Region Corporation and Community Options. Special music will be provided by Mary Oehlke. DelRay Earl Sanderson was born on October 12, 1951 at Bottineau, ND, the son of Earl Sanderson and Elaine (Nehring) Sanderson. He lived with his family in New Rockford, ND for 12 years and then moved to Devils Lake. He attended Special Education classes and later was active in the REM, Lake Region Corporation and Community Options programs. He also served on the Lake Region Corporation Board for several years. He attended the Methodist Church and Sunday School. In May of 2012, DelRay became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center and resided there until his death. DelRay loved fishing with his Dad, golfing, jig-saw puzzles, doing things with friends and family and summer camp at Lake Metigoshe. DelRay loved life and was a happy-go-lucky guy always with a smile. DelRay is survived by his mother, Elaine Sanderson of Devils Lake; sister, JoEtta Wang and her husband Robert of rural Devils Lake; niece, Heather Wang of Fargo and nephew, Ethan Wang of Wahpeton and several aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Sanderson; twin brothers, Larry and Barry; grandparents and uncles and aunts.
