Lyle was born on May 8, 1927 to Amanda Thomason in Lisbon, North Dakota. He lived with his mother and five brothers at the family home in Lisbon until the age of 14. He moved to the Grafton State School on December 14, 1948. On February 22, 1983 he moved to the nursing home in Michigan, ND and remained there until he became part of Friendship, Inc.’s ISLA program in Grafton, ND on October 1, 1992. He retired from Friendship’s work activity program in 2001 and moved to his current home with services provided from Lake Region Corporation in 2003. He attended a day program in his home.
Lyle enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows and old westerns. He enjoyed listening to music and liked to attend parties. He liked to visit with friends, and enjoyed visits with his brother. He enjoyed going out for drives in the community and he loved seeing children and babies. Lyle would always brighten your day, whether it was a handshake, a wink, or him shaking his fist at you. Lyle was very particular of his room and wanted it to be “in order”. Lyle always liked to be dressed very sharply, and always chose a dress shirt and a sweater. Lyle would very rarely be seen leaving his room without a baseball cap.
Surviving Lyle is his brother, Garnell “Pete” Thomason of Devils Lake.
Preceding Lyle in death was his mother and some of his siblings.
