Kenneth “Kenny” F. Klein, 72 of Arthur, formerly of Fargo and Devils Lake, ND passed away Wednesday evening, April 10, 2013 at Good Samaritan Care Center of Arthur, ND in the loving care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until time of the Mass. The Rosary will be said prior to the funeral Mass.
Kenneth Frank, son of Michael and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Klein was born on August 18, 1940 at Rugby, ND. He grew up in the Balta area, attended Balta Public School and graduated from Balta High School in 1958. After graduating, he ranched in the area then purchased a bar in Cando, ND. He married Sylvia E. Schmidt in 1961.
In 1968, the family moved to Devils Lake and for the next 25 years, Kenny was the owner and operator of the House of Bottles, located just off of highways 2 & 19. In 1993, Kenny leased the bar out to others then in 2001 moved to Fargo, ND to be closer to family. While living in Fargo he worked with his son in the construction business.
Kenny was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks and Eagles Lodges.
Membership in the local lodges afforded Kenny many chances to dance, a talent he had and a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed. Camping on Devils Lake with family and friends made for many fun times in the summer. Kenny also enjoyed Classic Cars and was known to keep his own cars immaculate inside and out.
Kenny is survived by his son, Terrill and wife, Karla of Reiles Acres, ND and their children and Kenny’s grandchildren, Kaley and Laney; brothers, Ed Klein of Balta, ND, Ray (Bertha) Klein of Minot, ND, Dennis (Georgiann) Klein of Rugby, ND and James (Arlene) Klein of Fargo, ND; sisters, Clara Vetsch of Carrington, ND and Helen Hoffart also of Minot; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tonae Rae Klein in 1970. She was 5 years old.
