Ambrose Bert “Buddy” Longie, “Wambdi Watakpe” (Attacking Eagle) of St. Michael, ND passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. He was 73 years old.
The Wake for Buddy will begin at 5:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Thursday, May 30th with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. from Wal-Mart.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Anthony Hession celebrating the Mass. Buddy will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Rhythm Riders and any other musicians who would like to share their songs will provide music in memory of Buddy.

Buddy was born on December 3, 1939 at Fort Totten, ND and raised in the Fort Totten/St. Michael area. He graduated at Mandan, ND and returned home. He married Doris Bear and they shared there lives together for 30 years.
He worked as a security guard at Dakota Sioux Casino in St. Michael, driver for the Fort Totten Elderly and a housekeeper at the Spirit Lake Casino. Due to his illness he was forced to retire.
Buddy raised his granddaughter, Challsey and made his home in the St. Michael area. Buddy loved being around his great grandson, Chaz. Chaz made his day?. He was known as “La-La” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, bingo, playing slot machines and pool. He will be greatly missed and loved.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Yankton-Littleghost; father, Phillip Longie; uncle, Jim Littleghost; brother, Duane Yankton and niece, Rhondina Longie.
Buddy’s surviving family: Wife, Doris Longie; brother, Phillip “Skip” Longie Sr. and his wife, Darlis; son, Victor (Bernadine) Jackson; daughters, Brenda (Roger) Jackson, Jeanetta Jackson, Patty (David) Roberson and Sandy (Jamie) Jackson; special granddaughters, Challsey Ironhawk and Raven Whitetail; special great grandson, Chaz Ironhawk; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
