Laurynn Carmen Clarah Whiteshield “Zikana Ska Win” (White Bird Woman) passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. She was 3 years old. Laurynn was born on July 19, 2010 at St. Alexis Medical Center, Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Fabian Whiteshield and Davia Skinner. She lived in Bismarck and most recently was living in St. Michael. Laurynn was a direct descendent of the Great Sioux Chief Suna Waanatan I and Chief Suna Waanatan II. Laurynn was a happy, playful child. She loved being with her family, a family she knew loved her. She loved watching cartoons and she always had a smile and a hug for everyone. She was truly a precious and special gift from God. Laurynn’s beloved family. Her parents, Fabian Whiteshield of Bismarck and Davia Skinner of Standing Rock, ND; her twin sister, Michaela Whiteshield and sister, Heavenlee Whiteshield; grandparents, Freeman Whiteshield, Irene Bull Bear and Wilfred Skinner Jr.; great grandmother, Beatrice Hollow-Skinner; aunts and uncles, Freeman (Erica) Whiteshield, Jr., Felix Whiteshield, Fulton (Chantelle) Whiteshield, Francine Whiteshield, Brittany Skinner, Wilfred Skinner III, Erin Slides Off, Pamela Skinner and Challis Condon; grandmas and grandpas, Mary Ann BlackBull and family, Mary and Frank Lovejoy and family, Duane and Elaine Guy and family, Sharon Brien and family, Carol J. Littleghost and family, Brenda Whiteshield, Bernadine Whiteshield, Lora Lee Two Hearts, Eunice Bull Bear, Byron Bull Bear, Allen Bull Bear and Isaac Mallard; many aunties, uncles and cousins. Laurynn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Julienee Skinner, great grandparents, Felix and Lucy Whiteshield, Leo Bull Bear Jr., Stella Bull Bear and grandpa, Sebastian Mallard. The Wake for Laurynn will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center, St. Michael, ND on Sunday, June 23, 2013 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. from Wal-Mart. Mass of the Angels will be held on Monday, June 24th at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Brian Moen celebrating the Mass. Casket Bearers for Laurynn will be Freeman “JR” Whiteshield Jr., Fulton Whiteshield, Jeffery Whiteshield, Suna Guy and Tim TwoHearts. Honorary Bearers will be all of Laurynn’s beloved family and dear friends of the family. Tony and Vina McDonald and the Rhythm Riders and any other musicians are welcome to share their songs in memory of Laurynn.
